The three weeks, in order
Numbered because it genuinely is a sequence — each stage has to dry, set or cure before the next one starts.
DAY 1–2 · CUTTING
Hides differ — scars, brands, stretch along the belly. Your panels get cut from the firm part, the straps from along the spine. You get a photo of the marked hide before the knife goes in.
DAY 3–12 · STITCHING
Two needles, one thread, crossing in each hole. It takes about nine hours for a weekender, and it is why a cut stitch never unravels the seam the way a machine lockstitch does.
DAY 13–21 · FINISHING
Edges are sanded, waxed and burnished by friction until they are glass-smooth. Then the bag sits for a few days so the leather takes its shape before it ships.
